Bio-Inspired Robotics
Modern robotic technologies have enabled robots to operate in a variety of unstructured and dynamically-changing environments, in addition to traditional structured environments. Robots have, thus, become an important element in our everyday lives. One key approach to develop such intelligent and autonomous robots is to draw inspiration from biological systems. Biological structure, mechanisms, and underlying principles have the potential to provide new ideas to support the improvement of conventional robotic designs and control. Such biological principles usually originate from animal or even plant models, for robots, which can sense, think, walk, swim, crawl, jump or even fly. Thus, it is believed that these bio-inspired methods are becoming increasingly important in the face of complex applications. Bio-inspired robotics is leading to the study of innovative structures and computing with sensory-motor coordination and learning to achieve intelligence, flexibility, stability, and adaptation for emergent robotic applications, such as manipulation, learning, and control.

Beyond Techno-Utopia. Critical approaches to digital health technologies
This book presents an overview of digital health technologies, discusses previous research and introduces the contributions to the special issue “Beyond Techno-Utopia: Critical Approaches to Digital Health Technologies”. It is argued that thus far, few critical analyses of digital health technologies have been published in the social science literature, particularly in relation to the newest technologies. While the articles collected here in this special issue have gone some way in offering a critical response to digital health technologies, they represent only a beginning. Many more compelling topics remain to be investigated. The editorial ends with outlining directions for future research in this area.

Beyond Lean. Simulation in practice
This book discusses how, in a practical way, to overcome the limitations of the lean approach to transforming manufacturing systems as well as related in-plant, plant-to-plant, and plant-tocustomer logistics. The primary tools in this regard are algebra based mathematical models and computer-based systems simulation as well as the integration of these two. Concepts, methods, and application studies related to designing and operating such systems are presented. Emphasis is on learning how to effectively make design, planning, and operations decisions by using a model based analysis and synthesis process.

Beyond Lean. Simulation in practice
The book covers a wide spectrum of topics related to simulation for lean purposes. The book assumes a pre-knowledge in lean principles and manufacturing systems design and analysis. The book provides pseudo-codes for different simulation situations. The book is nicely organized. The first part provides background on simulation and then moves to explain simulation in different applications. This book covers a wide variety of scenarios that may be simulated in a Lean manufacturing operation. It appears to assume a fairly good understanding of Lean principles, manufacturing system design, and programming skills. Example simulation set ups are described in a generalized pseudocode, and are meant to be compatible with the AutoMod simulation software, which has a free student version.

Audio signal processing
Audio signal processing is a highly active research field where digital signal processing theory meets human sound perception and real-time programming requirements. It has a wide range of applications in computers, gaming, and music technology, to name a few of the largest areas. Successful applications include, for example, perceptual audio coding, digital music synthesizers, and music recognition software. The fact that music is now often listened to using headphones from a mobile device leads to new problems related to background noise control and signal enhancement. Developments in processor technology, such as parallel computing, are changing the way signal-processing algorithms are designed for audio.
