Antennas for All Applications

This is an exciting revision of John Kraus' classic book Antennas, which has been long known as the "Antenna Bible". A new co-author, Ronald Marhefka has joined the author team for this revison. Many new, modern applications have been added-thus the title change to Antennas with All Applications. As well, the references have been updated to include recent additons to the literature. Additionally, the book has been reorganized to make it more user-friendly for both students and professionals. The book now covers the fundamentals of various antennas and concepts in the first half of the book and then gets into more details on those same topics later in the book. This allows a one-semester course to just cover the fundamentals if desired, and a professional to focus on advanced topics if he or she wants.

Satellite Communication Systems

This book has excellent treatment of antennas, modulation, coding and link budgets. If you need to learn how you should size a terminal for a given type of service than this is where you will find the answer or at least how to get the calculations correct. This is the third edition of the book which is based on the material presented at this de-facto industry-standard training course. It is my privilege to once again edit the book and oversee the updating process. It is different from the many other texts in the same field that have come and gone over the last ten years. The material has been designed to enable those with a basic engineering or mathematically based education to enter, and to specialise in, the field of satellite communications with the minimum of effort. The approach has been to concentrate on the design and planning of systems and thus the reader will not find a highly theoretical approach to the subject. Basic equations are quoted rather than derived, but their use in the planning and design procedures is explained in detail. The authors of the chapters have between them a wealth of experience as practitioners in the satellite field, and we aim to capture this and to pass it on to the next generation in a digestable manner.

Electronic Communications. A Systems Approach

The electronic communications field, the largest business sector in the industry and the original application from which the discipline has evolved, is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Thanks to the computer revolution and advances in large-scale integration, functions traditionally performed by analog circuits built from discrete components are now largely carried out within integrated circuits executing digital signal-processing operations. Such wholesale changes in system implementation bring with them an increasing need for a new approach to study. In contrast with the traditional emphasis on individual circuits embodied by many texts, the primary objective of this book is to foster an in-depth understanding of communications systems by providing a comprehensive description of how functional blocks work together to perform their intended tasks.

Fundamentals of Wireless Communication

The past decade has seen many advances in physical layer wireless communication theory and their implementation in wireless systems.
