Gothic literature

The study of English literature in the early twenty-fi rst century is host to an exhilarating range of critical approaches, theories, and his-torical perspectives. ‘English’ ranges from traditional modes of study such as Shakespeare and Romanticism to popular interest in national and area literatures such as those of the United States, Ireland, and the Caribbean. The subject also spans a diverse array of genres from tragedy to cyberpunk, incorporates such hybrid fi elds of study as Asian American literature, Black British literature, creative writing, and literary adaptations, and remains eclectic in its methodology.

Ceramics and Atlantic Connections: Late Roman and Early Medieval Imported Pottery on The Atlantic Seaboard

The central aim of the Ceramics and Atlantic Connections Symposium was to consider recent and ongoing research on pottery imported to the Atlantic Seaboard between c. AD 400-700, reflecting an increased international interest in the archaeology and economy of this region in Late Antiquity and the early medieval period. Our hope was that the event would facilitate comparisons between groups of imported ceramics found at Late Antique sites along the Atlantic Seaboard, including western Britain, western France, Ireland, Portugal and north-west Spain.

This series investigates the Renaissance as a complex intersection of political and cultural processes that radiated across Italian territories into wider worlds of influence, not only through Western Europe, but into the Middle East, parts of Asia and the Indian subcontinent. It will be alive to the best writing of a transnational and comparative nature and will cross canonical chronological divides of the Central Middle Ages, the Late Middle Ages and the Early Modern Period.

Мазкур асар Қўқон хонларининг ҳаёти ва фаолиятлари билан боғлиқ бўлгани учун унда хонликнинг охирги ҳукмдорлари Худоёрхон ва Насриддинхоннинг авлодлари ҳақида ҳам генеалогик (шажаравий) маълумотлар келтирилади.

Kitobda urushdan keyingi 1965-yil 8-maydan 2011-yil 9-maygacha “Buxoro haqiqati”, “Olot hayoti”, “Mehnat zarbdori”, “Yangi hayot”, “Do’stlik bayrog’i” va “Buxoronoma” gazetalarning sahifalari va qatlarida saqlanib qolgan buxorolik front jangchilari haqidagi 120 ga yaqin maqolalar bitta to’plam asosida yagona tizimga keltirildi. Ushbu maqolalarning mualiflari jurnalist, pedagog, talaba va frontlardagi harbiy to’qnashuvlarni jonli guvohlari hamda mehnat veteranlaridir.

The Hunting Farmers

The transition from foragers to farmers and the role of intensive rice agriculture have been among the most controversial subjects in Korean archaeology. However, the relatively high acidity of sediment in the Korean peninsula has made it impossible to examine faunal floral remains directly for tracing the subsistence hange. For this reason, many of the studies on the transition heavily relied on the shell middens in the oastal areas, which reflect only a small portion of the overall subsistence in the Korean

Polynesia 900–1600

The term Polynesia is itself a Western label and an artificial construct. Just as time periods are constructed, so too are geographical spaces. The term “Polynesia” is derived from the Greek words “poly,” meaning many, and “nesia” for island. Polynesia is used to identify the region in the Poly- nesian Triangle with the points made up of Rapa Nui (Easter Island) off the coast of Chile, Hawaii, and Aotearoa New Zealand, as well as its outlier islands. The Pacific was divided into Polynesia, Melanesia, and Micronesia by the French navigator Jules Sebastian Dumont d’Urville in the nineteenth century.

Atlas of ceramic fabrics

In the introduction of the first volume we discussed the key methodological aspects addressed by the project 2 in order to illustrate the philosophy of our approach, i.e. the relevance of pottery for archaeology and the meaning of building an Atlas of Ceramic Fabrics. We detailed then the sampling strategies and data presentation in order to decipher the meaning of the fabrics there defined. Hereafter we describe this volume by posing and answering questions about the organisation and strategy of the work.

Медицинский справочник тренера содержит основные сведения по врачебному контролю и физиологии спортивной тренировки. В нем освещаются возрастно-половые особенности, критерии отбора в спорте, вопросы функционального состояния и тренированности спортсменов с учетом специфики вида спорта, рассматриваются причины и профилактика не­ которых заболеваний, травм и патологических состояний. Справочник предназначен тренерам, преподавателям фи­зического воспитания. Он может быть также использован спортсменами и студентами высших и средних физкультурных учебных заведений.
