Это уже не только физики, но и инженеры, занимающиеся конструк цней новых и совершенствованием уже существующих полупровод никовых приборов; это физико-химики. занимающиеся пробле мами катализа. В связи с развитием в последние годы нового направления в полупроводниковой электронике микроминиатю ризацией возрос интерес исследователей к изучению физических свойств тонких пленок. Толщина этих пленок, а следовательно, и размеры приборов, изготовленных на их основе, настолько малы. что все происходящие в них процессы связаны с поверхностью. Количество работ, посвященных изучению свойств поверхности полупроводников, опубликованных в различных журналах, оте-чественных и зарубежных, чрезвычайно велико и непрерывно воз-растает. Однако до настоящего времени нет ни одной книги, моно-графии или учебника, в которой были бы рассмотрены вопросы, изучаемые физикой поверхности. Единственным пособием, кроме статей в периодической литературе, которое можно было бы реко-мендовать исследователям, начинающим заниматься изучением поверхности, является изданный в 1959 г. сборник переводов «Фи-зика поверхности полупроводников» под ред.
