The Great Chain of Being: A Study of the History of an Idea
A. O. Lavjoy,This seminal work by the distinguished American philosopher Arthur O. Lovejoy is a foundational text in the discipline of the history of ideas. Based on his 1933 William James Lectures at Harvard University, the book traces the origin, evolution, and eventual transformation of one of the most dominant concepts in Western thought: the "Great Chain of Being."Lovejoy meticulously analyzes how the idea of a strictly systematized, hierarchical universe—stretching from the absolute perfection of God down to the lowest forms of inanimate matter—originated in the philosophies of Plato and Aristotle, reached its zenith during the Middle Ages and the Enlightenment, and was eventually challenged by the rise of evolutionary theory and romanticism in the 19th century. The author breaks down the concept into three core interconnected principles:Plenitude: The belief that the universe contains all possible forms of existence.Continuity: The conviction that all beings shade into one another without gaps.Gradation: The hierarchical arrangement of all things based on their degree of perfection.Written with profound erudition, this academic monograph remains an essential resource for students, scholars, and researchers in philosophy, intellectual history, theology, and comparative literature.

Meditations on First Philosophy
R. Dekart,First published in 1641, Meditations on First Philosophy is a seminal work of modern Western philosophy, written by the renowned French philosopher and mathematician René Descartes. The book is structured as a series of six meditative essays in which Descartes discards all belief in things that are not absolutely certain, aiming to establish a secure foundation for scientific and philosophical knowledge. Through his method of Cartesian doubt, he famously deduces his own existence as a thinking thing ("Cogito, ergo sum"), introduces the concept of mind-body dualism, and presents ontological arguments for the existence of God and the reality of the material world. This highly acclaimed translation by Donald A. Cress captures the precision of Descartes' original Latin text, making it an essential resource for students, professors, and scholars of metaphysics, epistemology, and the history of philosophy.

Potato Growth and Yield Assessment: The Practical Results of DSSAT, APSIM, and iCrop Comparative analysis
F.E. Abdullayeva,This study was conducted using DSSAT (SUBSTOR-Potato), APSIM and iCrop models for simulating potato growth and yield scientifically comparative assessments of practical strengths and weaknesses. Methodological the approach involves calibration-validation across multiple seasons and fields, RMSE, NSE, and d statistical methods for evaluating crop models applied. The results show that the iCrop model has the highest statistically accurate. It shows that DSSAT and APSIM follow. The iCrop–DSSAT–APSIM ensemble approach is based on the dry yield of the crop and provide the best results in predicting the nitrogen uptake of tuber.
