Among topics discussed: illustrated magazines and the photographic revolution; photojournalism between the Wars; the first age of the art director; journalism and design in the sixties; and the magazine today. It includes 340 illustrations, with 256 in color, that depict striking and memorable ads, photos and cover designs. It also depicts the influential work of legendary designers like Alexey Brodovitch, Roland Schenk, and Willy Fleckhaus.
