In the era of globalisation, the future success of the railway sector depends significantly on the worldwide sharing of knowledge. However, railway signalling is still one of the few sectors of technology in which national solutions differ substantially. For a long time, there were no common terms and definitions, and there was a corresponding lack of understanding of the underlying principles. In the technical literature, descriptions of railway signalling principles tended to concentrate on the railways of a single country, or group of countries.

Railway Construction

The curriculum of Master course in Infrastructure-Civil Engineering at Széchenyi István University was changed. In this way more new – mainly infrastructure specialized – subjects were introduced. The subject, title “Road and railway construction” (NGM_ET130_1) is one of them, this subject gives additional knowledge to students were not graduated as Civil Engineer BSc or Civil Engineer (college level). The subject summarizes the basic knowledge related to road construction and railway construction. This book consists of the curriculum related to railway construction, it eases learning process of students, their preparation for exam. The authors’ aim was to widen and explain the knowledge of Power Point presentations introduced at the lessons, as well as to supply additional information. Our book would like to cover the basic knowledge of railway construction, whereas every little detail can’t be discussed because of the limited space. Readers, who would like to receive more detailed knowledge in the topic of this book, they can look up in the literatures listed in references. This book was written by two teachers and two students with excellent scholastic record, the reviewers were two colleagues of our department. In the name of authors, we would like to thank: Gábor Winkler Vocational Dormitory, as well as Széchenyi 2020 project for the support of the preparation of this university book. Introduction to queueing systems with telecommunication applications

The development of queueing theory dates back more than a century. Originally the concept was examined for the purpose of maximizing performance of telephone operation centers; however, it was realized soon enough that issues in that field that were solvable using mathematical models might arise in other areas of everyday life as well. Mathematical models, which serve to describe certain phenomena, quite often correspond with each other, regardless of the specific field for which they were originally developed, be that telephone operation centers, planning and management of emergency medical services, description of computer operation, banking services, transportation systems, or other areas. The common feature in these areas is that demands and services occur (also at an abstract level) with various contents depending on the given questions. In the course of modeling, irrespective of the meaning of demand and service in the modeled system, one is dealing with only moments and time intervals.
