Wireless A to Z
Many mobile telephone carriers are deploying advanced wireless service network technologies such as cdma2000 1xRTT and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). These deployments have contributed to the further convergence of mobile voice and data. The increased capacity on these digital networks has permitted operators to offer calling plans with large buckets of relatively inexpensive minutes, free enhanced services such as voice mail and caller ID, and wireless data and mobile Internet offerings.

Teach Yourself Electricity and Electronics
This book is divided into four major sections: Direct Current, Alternating Current, Basic Electronics, and Advanced Electronics and Related Technology. At the end of each section is a multiple-choice test. Take these tests when you’re done with the respective sections and have taken all the chapter quizzes. Don’t look back at the text when taking these tests. A satisfactory score is 37 answers correct. Again, answers are in the back of the book. There is a final exam at the end of the book. The questions are practical, mostly nonmathematical, and somewhat easier than those in the quizzes. The final exam contains questions drawn from all the chapters. Take this exam when you have finished all four sections, all four section tests, and all of the chapter quizzes. A satisfactory score is at least 75 percent correct answers.

Microstrip Filters for RF Microwave Applications
Filters play important roles in many RF/microwave applications. Emerging applications such as wireless communications continue to challenge RF/microwave filters with ever more stringent requirements—higher performance, smaller size, lighter weight, and lower cost. The recent advances in novel materials and fabrication technologies, including high-temperature superconductors (HTS), low-temperature cofired ceramics (LTCC), monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC), microelectromechanic system (MEMS), and micromachining technology, have stimulated the rapid development of new microstrip and other filters for RF/microwave applications. In the meantime, advances in computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as full-wave electromagnetic (EM) simulators have revolutionized filter design. Many novel microstrip filters with advanced filtering characteristics have been demonstrated. However, up until now there has not been a single book dedicated to this subject

Microwave Circuit Modeling Using Electromagnetic Field Simulation
This book is about modeling microwave circuits using commercial electromagnetic field-solvers. But before we can model a circuit we have to understand how the tools work. All the field-solvers we will discuss are based on well-established numerical methods for solving Maxwell’s equations. We have tried to gather just enough background material on the major numerical methods to help the reader appreciate what is going on behind the interface. We will spend a lot of effort outlining the strengths and weaknesses of each numerical method in a fair and balanced way. This knowledge helps us choose the right software tool for a specific task and set up the problem more intelligently.

Microwave Component Mechanics
The intention of this chapter is to introduce the reader to the world of microwaves (MW), taking into account the appropriate applications and practices required within mechanical engineering. We start by showing a brief systematic treatment of Maxwell’s equations. They may look tedious, but they are quite useful. After that, a number of practical cases follow, including examples of material problems and dimensional uncertainties. Next, the basics of radio frequency cables and connectors are briefly described. Finally, a definition of the typical user environment is given.
